Year one looks similar. Year three does not.
In the first year the two prices are close. $399 against roughly $397.
The difference is what happens next. doola is a subscription. It renews at $297 a year for as long as you keep the company. Ours is not a subscription. After the first year you pay $50 a year for the registered agent and the US address, and nothing else is required.
Over three years that is $499 against $991.
The EIN is the real difference
doola states 4 to 6 weeks for the EIN. We issue it in 1 business day, Monday to Friday, once the company is formed.
This matters more than it sounds. Most banks and payment processors ask for the EIN before anything else. Mercury, Stripe and PayPal all want it. Until it arrives you cannot open the account, and until the account is open you cannot take money.
We also guarantee it. Company formed and EIN issued within 72 hours, or you get everything back. doola offers no such guarantee.
Where doola is better
We would rather tell you this than have you find out later.
doola sells bookkeeping and tax filing as an ongoing service on its higher tiers. We do not do bookkeeping at all. If you want somebody keeping your books month to month, doola offers that and we do not.
doola also has a larger company behind it, with a bigger support team and a longer public track record. If that matters to you, it is a fair reason to choose them.
We do one thing. We form the company, get the EIN quickly, and handle the two filings you are legally required to make each year.
Moving to us from doola
You can move the yearly filings to us straight away. The annual report and the Form 5472 with pro-forma 1120 do not require us to be your registered agent. Nothing has to move for those.
Changing the registered agent is a separate step. In Wyoming it is a paper form, posted to the Secretary of State with a $5 cheque. It cannot be done online and it takes up to 15 working days.
Do not cancel doola before the change is accepted. A company with no registered agent falls out of good standing.
